COURSE DETAILS

The Marathon swim Travessia Oeiras-Cascais 10km starts at Torre Beach, in Oeiras, facing south.

Swimmers will line up in the water to begin, and after passing the 1579 S. Julião da Barra Fort they will turn towards Cascais.

Throughout the course swimmers can expect guiding buoys every 500m as well as 2 aid stations.

The finish line in Cascais will also be in the water, in front of  Pescadores Beach.

The tide will not have impact on the swimmers performance, however this first kilometer can be subject to some of the current’s effects.

In order to guarantee every participant’s safety, a safety buoy attached to their ankles is mandatory.

Teams of 4 elements can compete in Travessia Lisboa-Cascais 20km.

Each team must have a support boat and skipper to accompany them.

RACE LICENSE

All swimmer's must have a race license. This can either be a federation license from the Portuguese Swimming Federation (FPN) or any of their international counterparts, or even from the Portuguese Triathlon Federation (FTP) ,or a race license obtained when registered online. Please choose whichever applies when you complete your registration.

TEAM DISCOUNT

Teams with 20 or more swimmers will get a discount on registration. Bring your friends and get a closer chance at one of the team awards!

DISTANCE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

We advise all participants in Travessia Oeiras-Cascais 10km to have completed an open water swimming event of at least 5km in the last 5 years.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The Race Regulations contain mandatory information, fundamental for a safe participation in the event. Reading and complying with the regulations is mandatory.

Race Briefing is mandatory. Swimmer’s will be able to check-in and colect their swimmer’s kit at the race briefing location.

Training for this challenge can give you an ultimate experience. Be prepared for the great day with a training plan

Hydration and gels every 20 – 30 minutes

A good nutrition and hydration before the race and during the whole crossing can avoid moments of extreme fatigue and cramps

Travel to Cascais, Lisbon or Oeiras with time to acclimatize and adapt to the race courses and venue

SERVICES

SHUTTLE

Swimmers will have access to a shuttle before and after the race that will bring them from Cascais to Oeiras. Available schedules will be communicated closer to race day.

CLOAKROOM

Swimmers will be able to leave their belongings at the start, in Oeiras, in order to collect them at the finish and recovery area.
